Mahj in the Burbs began in 2024 — unexpectedly.
After knee surgery, Teresa Kigin Hill found herself with time, a set of tiles, and a love for American Mah Jongg. She began hosting games at Never Enough Thyme in Alpharetta City Center.
Friends asked to learn.
Lessons began.
Laura Feingold and Hindy Silverman joined.
And what started as casual games became one of the most active Mah Jongg communities in the northern Atlanta suburbs.
Today we’ve:
• Taught 400+ students
• Built structured weekly Open Play
• Created a progression from lesson to confident player
We take the game seriously.
We rotate tables.
We build community intentionally.
From First Tile to Full Table.
